Amen to this! The uncomfortable mix of politics and religion ended it for me.

The congregation I belonged to in early 2016 began to mix in a strange version of the gospel which relied on the ultra-conservative far right platform. Gradually, but steadily, progress toward a hateful version of the gospel, one which left no room for inquiry continues to this day.

I focus on a kinder, loving spirituality which includes a more generous spirit toward myself.
