But that’s not the way we do things, Jesus

How often are we correcting Jesus — letting him know the Right way?

Saying it out loud sounds pretty ridiculous. Doesn’t it? Yet as Christians we say this daily. We act this out repeatedly.

not me!

is this you? Are you denying this? Maybe even three time? (Ahem, cough cough Saint Peter?)

From Mathew 3, even the beloved John the Baptist does this. In Mathew 3:14, the well known verse “I need to be baptized by you.” Even John the Baptist doesn’t get it. This makes me feel as if I really have little hope to get it right.

Fast forward some 2000 or more years. Has anything changed for his disciples?

As Christians, don’t we profess that God is in control? Don’t we get tattoos about no weapons formed blah blah blah? And how many WWJD bracelets have you worn? How many cross-themed super trendy shirts do you have? How many contemporary Christian concerts have you attended?

You get where I am headed with this?

Once again, I imagine Jesus face palming himself when he sees what I am doing

Sorry, Jesus. I just couldn’t help myself.
