Can you still claim to not be a Racist?

Is it just me or are your a Racist ?

Facebook feeds are filled with the indignant.

The self righteous GOP — the pearl clutching is laughable. Social media friends — well at least that’s what we call them — seem offended that I dare to question their paradigms. They latch to their preconceived assumptions, ingrained for decades, and indignantly lash out at me when I ask them to reconsider their positions.

But That’s the Way It Has Always Been

Institutionalized racism is not an easy thing for folks to recognize and see as racism.

In case you are not familiar, Wikipedia breaks it down for us. Institutional racism is a “form of racism expressed in the practice of social and political institutions. It is reflected in disparities regarding wealth, income, criminal justice, employment, housing, health care, political power and education, among other factors.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institutional_racism)

An example may be that when you see some at the grocery store using public assistance, what is your reaction? If she looks like you, do you think that she is fortunate to have some help as she obviously fell on hard times? Or, if she looks different that you (perhaps her skin is a shade darker or she…
