In recent years, there has been a growing trend of revisionism among conservatives who seek to change or erase history that they deem politically inconvenient.

Nowhere is this more evident than in Florida, where Governor Ron DeSantis has advanced a number of policies that amount to little more than historical white-washing.

From appointing a former Confederate soldier to head up the state’s educational system, to removing references to civil rights leaders from texts books, DeSantis is working hard to promote a false and dangerous version of history.

Whether it’s erasing the contributions of black Americans or downplaying the role of women in society, this type of revisionism is not only harmful — it’s downright dangerous. If we allow our history to be rewritten by those in power, we’re doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.

We must resist this trend and fight for an accurate portrayal of our shared history.
