Getting past January 6 requires accountability

MAGAs want the insurrection forgotten — more concerning than you know

The past few weeks, months, years have been rough for many Americans, as we come to terms with the events of January 6th.

For some, it was a stark realization of just how divided our country is. For others, it was a marker of how much work we still have to do in order to achieve true democracy. And for many, it was both.

However, as we move forward, it’s important that we don’t forget what happened and why it matters. We must hold those accountable who participated in the insurrection, and continue to fight for the ideal of an inclusive society where everyone has a voice. Only then can we hope to get past this dark moment in our nation’s history.

We must acknowledge what happened on January 6 for what it was — a violent insurrection

On January 6th, President Trump addressed a crowd of vocal MAGA loyalists and encouraged them to march on the Capitol Building for the purpose of disrupting Congress’s certification of the election results.
