Ghosting is Self-Preservation

Although this is an unpopular opinion, I believe my mental health is more important than maintaining a relationship with a toxic person.

For the benefit of any boomers reading this, ghosting is “when a person cuts off all communication with zero warning or notice before hand…” as defined by https://www.urbandictionary.com.

Before you shame me, don’t worry; I technically fall within the range of boomers, so save your snarky comments for another time. I’m sure I’ll deserve them later.

Back to the topic at hand.

Ghosting — The ‘WHY’

Rather than open up a conversation about how I’m feeling, it’s more comfortable for me to abruptly cut off communication with someone.

This is not to say that I don’t care about the person I am ghosting.

It’s just that if I feel like their toxic behavior could be damaging to my mental health, then I would rather opt out of the relationship.
