In the world of politics, the rule of law is often a convenient tool, deployed when necessary but quickly forgotten when it doesn’t follow one’s agenda.

This is especially true in the GOP, where the importance of the rule of law seems to ebb and flow depending on who is in power and what they want to accomplish.

As a liberal or a Democrat, you may be frustrated by this inconsistency, but understanding how the GOP views the rule of law is key to deconstructing their rhetoric and holding them accountable.
