Great article! I agree with your points. An additional point also may be the similarity in God’s chosen Israel being repeatedly shown to turn away from God, to their detriment. Much like the tribe of the early Old Testament times, our Evangelical friends here in America may learn a few lessons. God is very harsh to those who worship false idols and teachers.
