Having grown up in rural Ohio (further north from the border in Tuscawarus county) I completely understand the unspoken racism of that time and place. Oddly, I did not encounter people of color (or so I thought) until I went to college. Yet folks with a tad bit different hair texture and skin tone abound. I am certain they too had similar unknown family heritiage.
