Hello from a fellow pariah - cut off from my family since the election of 2016. I am actively in contact with only one person - an aunt - from my family. I needed to break away for the sake of my children and now that they are grown, they have actually thanked me for this.

Growing up in poor, rural Ohio (amish country actually) with its echo chamber of protestant, Germanic background left me convinced only white skinned, blue eyed folks were 'normal.'

Count me 'woke' and no longer invited to family reunions.
