Growing up, I experienced my fair share of bullying in high school.

As much as it hurt at the time, what I didn’t realize then was that those experiences were preparing me for handling social media as an adult. As scary and intimidating as cyberbullying can be, there are a few lessons I learned from my high school days that have come in handy when navigating the online world.

Perseverance Through Hard Times

One of the biggest lessons I learned from high school was perseverance.

When you’re constantly being put down, it’s difficult to keep your head up and remember that things will get better. The same thing applies to social media — it can feel like everyone is out there judging you and your life choices. No matter how difficult or discouraging it feels, it’s important to stay positive and keep pushing forward — just like I did in high school.
