I Had to Leave the US to Get a Better Perspective: Now I See the Republican Madness for the Xenophobia It Is

Leaving the United States for a time offered me a unique lens through which to view my country — one I never knew I needed. I observed how other nations view immigration, diversity, and inclusivity.

Suddenly, what had seemed like mere differences in political ideology back home felt more like tectonic shifts, especially in the xenophobic rhetoric and policies emanating from the right-wing Republican camp.

The Republican stance on immigration, often cloaked in concerns for “border security” or “American jobs,” goes beyond policy disagreements.

Instead, it has evolved into a pervasive xenophobia that damages the very fabric of what America represents. From afar, I can see how this mindset threatens to erode…
