Inflation is down. So, here comes the immigrant, Caravan.

As the American economy shows signs of stability, with inflation rates dropping, a familiar narrative is returning. It’s a tale as old as modern politics: the immigrant caravan.

Republicans will once again turn their attention to the issue of illegal immigration, using it as a strategic pivot now that the economy is no longer the immediate crisis point.

The Cycle of Political Narratives

The ebb and flow of political narratives often follow the state of the economy. When inflation peaked, with prices soaring and economic anxiety gripping the nation, the Republican discourse was heavily focused on the cost of living, energy prices, and monetary policy failures.

With inflation showing signs of cooling and the economy stabilizing, the focus shifts to a topic that has historically rallied the base: immigration.
