Is Your Church Just another Club?
Church becomes another extra-curricular for you or your children, have you have lost your way?
For many Christians, their denomination or congregational home devolves into much more than their place of worship. Sadly, the evolution is not one of increased faith or deeper love of God.
For generations, the church has served as a framework of social support. In fact, for our parent and grandparents, the church was viewed as a mark of our identity.
In fact it has long been recognized the benefits of church membership and attendance bears benefits far beyond those of eternal salvation. According to one account from https://staugny.org, the benefits are far reaching and include better sleep, reduced risk of depression and suicide, improved marital relationships, longer life and lower blood pressure.
While it is obvious benefits are experienced from church membership and attendance, these same benefits can be heaped upon members of other country clubs. In fact, it may be argued similar benefits can be derived from nearly any social club.
Use of the church as a means to gain social status or even to grow one’s circle of influence cheapens the faith, detracting from the very purpose for which it was intended by Jesus.
