Mexico — Its so Dirty There
And other Things that People Who Don’t Understand Travel Say and How to Respond
Full disclosure on this one. I am a small town, Midwestern gal who, in a series of events, found herself in The Big City. But that is an entirely different story for another time. Let’s just leave that one alone for today.
Let’s refocus.
As a sufferers of wanderlust, my husband and frequently do the modern equivalent of throwing a dart board at the map to see where our next adventure will take us — yes, we have googled “Where should I go on vacation.” The results have taken us to some amazing places and we continue on our adventures.
That’s Risky Business, You say?
As you can imagine, this Midwestern girl has a large extended family. Many, I am sure, enjoy long conversations about the manner in which ‘that girl’ just carries on and how her parents are to be pitied. I do not doubt that there are gambling pools and wagers on the manner in which I will be killed.
Funny, as I write, John Mellencamp’s “Small Town” plays. The universe is such a funny place. (Seriously, check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CVLVaBECuc)
No amount of my reassurances and explanations have yet to convince that, no worries, the travel bug is not communicable and more importantly, there are good, honest folks outside of the great Midwest of America. Everyone has some story to share…
