Modern Christianity: Religious Freedom is Now the Right to Discriminate

The post-modern version of Christianity has devolved beyond recognition. Certainly, it is an unrecognizable expression of religion, straying far from the teachings of Jesus.

Since the 2013 Supreme Court ruling in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, businesses have used religious freedom to excuse discrimination against clients and staff members based on their religious convictions.

The court’s ruling allowed closely held corporations to be exempt from certain regulations that limit their religious expression. This has given companies the right to deny services or employment to those who do not follow their religious beliefs.

The Hobby Lobby case has been used as a precedent for state laws that allow businesses to refuse services to LGBTQ individuals or same-sex couples on the basis of religious freedom.
