While the MAGAs may claim the United States is the ‘bestest’ country ever, a quick trip beyond the borders might shake up the opinion. I’m so old; I remember when we were like this.

Back in the day…

So begins my reminiscing and daydreaming of when America used to be less polarized, less hateful, and less drama-filled.

Can you remember the time when you watched the news and were updated with facts? In the news, it used to be about who said or did something, not what to think about it, how to be offended, or in what way their actions were an affront to my belief system as determined by the network.

My recent stay in Mexico reminded me of the beauty of a united nation, where locals and tourists alike could feel safe no matter their circumstances. Even with all the various cultures that inhabited my beach town, there was an underlying feeling of acceptance, warmth, and generosity that I have never experienced anywhere else in the world.
