Relaxation for the Type A Personality

Are you a Type A personality?

Do you have difficulty relaxing and taking time for yourself?

Understanding the Type A Personality

Have you ever been told that you have a “Type A” personality?

It’s an often-used term to describe people who seem to be in constant motion, take on more than they can handle, and are always looking for ways to get ahead. But what exactly is a “Type A” personality and is it healthy?

The concept of the type A personality originated in the 1950s with cardiologists Meyer Friedman and Ray Rosenman. After studying thousands of patients, they determined that some individuals had certain traits that increased their risk of heart disease. These personalities had an intense drive for success, were highly competitive, easily frustrated, and often anxious or hostile. They labeled these people as having type A personalities.

Does this sound familiar to you?
