Sanity during Quarantine — 5 Best Coping Strategies for Working and Living at Home
After a full week of the new normal, the shock starts to wear thin. We begin to adapt and develop new norms.
What was once a novelty becomes habitual. Your morning once again becomes routine. You commute home from office space to the living room is uneventful and blessedly absent of gridlock, although you kind of miss that if you’re honest.
This is settling in and getting back to the grove that we lost momentarily.
The New Normal
I found it surprising how quickly this new routine became routine.
After many years of commuting downtown, rushing to my workspace, doing my time, and then rushing back out to fight traffic to eventually get back to my home space, this new working from home reality is becoming the new routine. In my organization, working from home has been an option for quite some time, but I had never considered this as a positive career move. I saw this as a sign of accepting my fate in my current role with no vision of career advancements.
Today, I am honestly not certain if that is a valid concern.
Quarantine is a great equalizer in that our entire organization is not only working from home, but also making a mad dash to figuring out best practices and learning about leading remotely. In this short time of adjustments, new paradigms, and altered perspectives, it is clear that the workplace is…
