Women’s health and reproductive rights have once again become a political battlefield.

Conservatives have set their sights on a particular target: the abortion pill.

This medication has become a symbol of the continuing fight over access to safe and legal abortion. With the current political climate, the future of the abortion pill is uncertain, and with it, the health and wellbeing of millions of women.

The Basics on this Pill

The abortion pill, also known by names such as Mifeprex, RU-486, mifepristone, and was approved by the FDA in 2000 and has since become an increasingly popular method for ending early pregnancies within the first ten weeks.

The pill is typically administered in a two-dose regimen by a medical professional. It is a safe and effective method that has been used by millions of women worldwide, with a success rate of 97%. Yet conservatives have launched a series of attacks on the pill, claiming it is unsafe and immoral.
