Remember Archie Bunker?

The iconic “All in the Family” character was one of the most popular sitcom characters of all time, and for many people, he is a reflection of America’s lack of evolution over the past 50 years.

Why this is true and what does this say about our society today.

The Unfortunate Reality

Archie Bunker represented an outdated way of thinking that was sadly still prevalent in American society in the 1970s.

He was a man who believed that women should stay in their place and that minorities were inferior to whites. His views were not only offensive but also ignorant — and yet, they were seen as acceptable by millions of people at the time.

That’s because racism and sexism were still deeply entrenched in American culture back then, even if they weren’t openly discussed or acknowledged.
