The strange thing about Ohio is it has a split personality.

There is the small town, rural, redneck Ohio and there is the urban Ohio (i.e. Cleveland, Cincinnati, and some Columbus).

The Ohio you describe is the first, the small town, rural, confederate flag wavers. They are the epitome of the 'deplorables.' I avoid them at all cost, and unfortunately, most of my extended family is them.
