The Words of Power from Martin Luther King, Jr.’s
Dr. King had amazing wisdon, beyond is young years. His quotes continue to teach us to this day as we continue to fight his battles.
Martin Luther King Jr. is often remembered for his legendary “I Have a Dream” speech. But he was also an incredibly prolific writer and speaker who left behind countless quotes that are still inspiring and relevant today.
Here are some of my favorite quotes from the civil rights leader that I think everyone should know.
“The time is always right to do what is right.”
Here, he is speaking to the importance of standing up for what you believe in, even when it isn’t popular or easy. When I find my self lacking in courage or conviction for what is the right thing to do, the voice in the back of my brain whispers to me.
In King’s famous Letter from Birmingham Jail, he wrote that “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” — a sentiment echoed in this quote about doing the right thing no matter what.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
