Trump’s Loyalty Test is the GOP’s DEI Hire — Only Worse

Conservatives love to rail against Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, claiming they prioritize ideology over merit.

But the GOP’s unwavering demand for loyalty to Donald Trump reveals a glaring hypocrisy. While they bash DEI hiring for allegedly favoring identity over qualifications, they openly embrace Trump’s loyalty tests, which do the same thing, just with more dangerous outcomes.

Competence Takes a Backseat to Loyalty

When Trump took office in 2017 with promises to “drain the swamp,” many expected an end to corruption and inefficiency. Instead, he filled his administration with people whose primary qualification was blind allegiance to him.

This loyalty-first approach wasn’t confined to high-profile roles.
