Ukraine Reminds the World — Democracy Needs to be Protected
The United States teaches flag waving patriotism, freedom, and the importance of democracy, and it took the bravery of the country of Ukraine to remind us of its value
As citizens of the United States of America, we choke up when the national anthem plays.
We all have our favorite anthems, patriotic songs, and symbols. For many, Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” renders tears.
As Americans, we have a self-righteous, as if we invented patriotism, freedom and even democracy. Although recently hijacked by the Far Right, the American flag was a symbol many recognized as synonymous with the values of freedom.
