Which Old Man Do You Support? The Two Things Are Not the Same

As we approach the 2024 presidential election, there’s a common refrain heard in discussions across the country: “Both candidates are old and out of touch.”

While it’s true that both major contenders for the presidency are older men, it’s a gross oversimplification to suggest that they are equivalent. From a liberal democratic perspective, the differences between these two candidates are stark and consequential for the future of our nation.

Age and Experience: Context Matters

First, let’s acknowledge the obvious: age does matter in politics.

It can impact a candidate’s energy levels, cognitive sharpness, and ability to connect with younger generations. However, age alone should not be the deciding factor. What truly matters is how each candidate leverages their experience and what they represent in terms of policy and vision for the country.
