I suspect we all have one. I do. Do you? Would you let him run the world?

White supremacy has been the “crazy uncle” of our society for centuries, but have you ever wondered what would happen if he got ahold of the reins?

Well, it seems to be happening.

Everywhere we look now, white supremacists are gaining power and influence. From government leaders to university campuses, it’s hard to deny that white supremacy is on the rise. Let’s take a closer look at how this happened and what it could mean for us moving forward.

How It Happened

White supremacy has always existed in some form or another, but over the past few years, there has been a marked increase in its prevalence and acceptance — so much so that it’s become normalized in many circles. This is due largely to the rise of right-wing populism and its embrace by certain political figures who have sought to capitalize on people’s fears and anxieties about immigrants, racial minorities, and other marginalized groups. These politicians have used white supremacist rhetoric as a tool to gain power and support from their base.
