The Pledge of Allegiance is more than words recited in classrooms and at public events.

It declares our shared national values—a commitment to “liberty and justice for all.” However, in recent years, the Republican Party has enacted policies and laws that undermine these principles, restricting the freedoms and rights of many Americans.

It is time to critically examine how these actions conflict with the pledge they so often invoke.
